The Sandusky County Sanitary Engineer's Office was established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1975 to provide sanitary sewer and water services to residents of Sandusky County.
Our mission is to provide the best possible service at reasonable costs to each of our customers. This means acting quickly and efficiently to solve problems and answer complaints, and to maintain the facilities in the best possible condition by utilizing just and honest principles.
NEWS RELEASE - SHOREWOOD WATER LINE FLUSHING:
The Sandusky County Sanitary Engineers has postponed flushing the water lines in Shorewood Village scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Line flushing has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Flushing will begin at approximately 8:30 A.M. and continue for four to five hours.
Customers may experience low pressure and rusty water during the flushing and immediately afterwards.
We would encourage customers to run their water and it should clear up within a short time.
UPCOMING HOLIDAY CLOSINGS:
The office will be closed all day for Columbus Day on October 13, 2025 (Monday).
RATE INCREASES:
For all customers that have City of Fremont Treatment as part of your sanitary sewer utility bill, the City of Fremont raised the treatment charge effective January 1, 2026.
SANITARY SEWER CONNECTION CHARGE INCREASES:
Effective January 1, 2026, a Connection Charge has been established for the Wightman’s Grove Area for $4,500 per Equivalent Single-Family Unit.
Effective January 1, 2026, the Connection Charge has been increased from $4,000 to $4,500 per Equivalent Single-Family Unit for the following areas:
UPCOMING PROJECTS:
1. The Sanitary Engineers is working with Thomas Porter Architects of Toledo, Ohio for Architectural Services for future building renovations. Preliminary layouts are currently being developed for the existing building where the Sanitary Engineers is located.
2. The Sanitary Engineers is working with ms consultants of Columbus, Ohio on a General Plan for the Rice Township Water Improvements. The General Plan has been submitted to the Ohio EPA for their review.
